29 YEARS
TO ACCOMPLISH ONE STEP
Praise the Lord! Today I was awarded
a PhD. It
sits red bound and gold-faced on the
desk.
A joy, after the 29 year pilgrimage
since I first started graduate work in order to develop
training programs for urban poor
churchplanters. My son wants to know if he now calls me
doctor. The purpose is not personal, a title is incidental
to the task and in Jesus' thinking unimportant. On the other hand, the purpose is
personal, in that my father left a heritage of fine academic
pursuit in our family, completing his 49th paper towards the 50
papers he needed for his doctorate the week before he
died. One is wise to follow the heritage left from our
fathers.
Pray: I have found a journalist who could
convert it into something readable. Next is the task of
praying in funding for
her .
TRAINING
IN INDIA
In Luke 10:1,
"The Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by
two ahead of him to every town and place where he was to go."
All I want to do is teach, prophesy and mobilise workers into the
battle, but for the moment, like Jesus did I need to
send. We have just sent Bryan Johnson up to three cities in
India for three weeks to prepare the ground, with the introductory
module to the grassroots churchplanters training. Meanwhile
a team are back here in the basement of the house, developing the
materials for the full twelve modules for the three years of
grassroots training.
Pray for Bryan as he travels. Such
travel and training is not
easy.
